Responsible Supply Chain
Eolus is committed to applying responsible business practices throughout our value chain and to promoting sustainable environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles within and beyond the company’s boundaries, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We recognize and comply with the international standards listed below and expect our suppliers to do the same.
- The International Bill of Human Rights; the Universal Declaration of Human Rights UDHR
- the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
- the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights
- the International Labour Organizations (ILO’s) eight core Conventions
- the UN (United Nations) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct
- the principles of UN Global Compact.
Due Diligence
Eolus has a process for value chain sustainability due diligence aimed at identifying environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and impacts. It also ensures that the company complies with internationally recognized responsible business conduct standards, such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, standards to which Eolus is committed.
The process follows Eolus’s project development model and is based on the OECD Due Diligence Guidance:
- Embed responsible business conduct into policies and management systems.
- Identify and assess adverse impacts in operations, supply chains and business relationships.
- Cease, prevent or mitigate adverse impacts.
- Track implementation and results.
- Communicate how impacts are addressed.
- Provide for or cooperate in remediation when appropriate.
Eolus has a risk management process to identify, prevent and mitigate risks related to human rights and the environment, and to report on how these risks are managed. We are responsible for identifying and managing risks within both our own operations and our supply chain. We require suppliers, in turn, to identify and manage risks within their own operations and supply chains.
Continuous Improvement and Cooperation
Eolus works on continuous improvement together with our suppliers, viewing the monitoring of the principles in our code of conduct as an ongoing process where suppliers and business partners are at different stages of development. We are convinced that through collaboration, we have a greater opportunity to identify, prevent, mitigate, and address human rights violations and environmental impacts. Therefore, we expect our suppliers to collaborate with us to continuously improve in social and environmental matters.
Supplier Code of Conduct
Eolus requires all suppliers and business partners to conduct their business responsibly and honestly in accordance with the principles outlined in our Code of Conduct for Suppliers and Business Partners. Eolus expects that suppliers and business partners ensure that their supply chain follows similar standards.
Development and Collaboration via IRBC
Eolus is a member of the IRBC Agreement for the Renewable Energy Sector, an international collaboration for responsible business conduct in renewable energy. The initiative brings together companies in solar and wind power, trade unions, civil society organisations and the Dutch government.
The purpose is to strengthen the work on human rights, environmental considerations and social responsibility in renewable energy value chains. Through its membership, Eolus participates in joint efforts to identify, address and reduce negative impacts on people and the environment, and to contribute to a just energy transition.
