About the Project

The planned wind power park is located in the Swedish territorial waters of the Bothnian Sea, approximately 3 km off the coast of Robertsfors and Skellefteå municipalities, Västerbotten County.

The investigation area for the wind power park is divided into two zones. The northern investigation area covers approximately 152 square kilometers, and the southern investigation area covers about 198 square kilometers. Within these two areas, Eolus plans for up to 147 wind turbines with a maximum total height of 365 meters.

The installed capacity is estimated to be around 2,200 MW, which would provide an annual addition of approximately 8.4-8.8 TWh of renewable electricity to the Swedish electricity grid. This can be compared to the electricity consumption in Västerbotten County, which was reported as 4.1 TWh in 2020. One alternative is to use the electricity wholly or partially to produce up to 170,000 tons of renewable hydrogen per year.
