Eolus granted permission to build a solar park in Båstad municipality

In 2022, Eolus applied to the County Administrative Board in Skåne to establish a solar park on the Bjäre Peninsula in the municipality of Båstad. The County Administrative Board rejected the establishment, but the Land and Environment Court overturned the decision, granting Eolus the right to proceed with the development of the park. The judgment is now legally binding.

The planned solar park named Påarp consists of a two-hectare project area, smaller than Eolus typically develops.
“It’s very positive that the court recognizes the benefits of solar parks in locations like this. Our calculations show that even a smaller project like Påarp can be profitable and contribute with renewable electricity to southern Sweden,” says Andres Möser, solar analyst at Eolus.

The area currently consists of hayfields and pastureland, which can still be used even if the solar park is built. The next steps involve securing the electrical grid connection and conducting geotechnical surveys to determine the amount of bedrock in the ground, which could affect the project’s cost. A decision on construction has not been made yet, but the park could be completed by 2026.

Eolus already has permission to establish three solar parks in Sweden: Säbyholm in Laholm, Södra Valla in Örebro, and Hässlåholms Gård in Falkenberg.
